February Students of the Month!

Hi, my name is Madeline Voigt! I'm fifteen years old and very excited to turn sixteen this April. Dance has always been a large part of my life.  My parents enrolled me in ballet when I was only two years old because I was always moving around the house. Ever since then I've been in love with dance. When I was nine, High Velocity Dance Company started, and of course I wanted to try out. I have been a part of HVDC ever since. Dance is a way for me to not only stay physically fit but mentally fit too. It makes my mind work in completely different ways than school and keeps me constantly searching for new ways of movement. On the other hand, dance is a place to let go of emotions. The feeling of letting go in a combo or piece is hard to describe. The best way I could describe it is being so present in something you love that you get lost in it. It’s a feeling of being so connected to yourself and in a completely different state of mind at the same time. My favorite style of dance is definitely contemporary and lyrical. Those are the styles that I can connect with the most, but recently I have really been really enjoying hip hop too! I have done many things for dance such as writing blogs for the Spotlight Ambassador program, helping teach classes at the studio, and currently I am traveling with the Fluid Dance Convention and Competition as an assistant to the choreographers helping teach convention classes. Along with the amazing opportunity of touring with Fluid, I also earned a nationwide tour scholarship with Velocity Dance Convention and Competition, so I will be attending many of those weekends as well. All of this would not be possible without my amazing teachers here at BAML! Rian and Lacey have both impacted my life and continue to do so everyday. Dance is my favorite place to be, and I am looking forward to all of the new opportunities this year will bring.

Hello, my name is Kelden, I am 11 years old. This is my second year in ballet & my first year in tap. I love to dance & enjoy my classes & I like my teachers. I also like to play football & build with legos, especially Star Wars. I really love to work on our farm with tractors and our cows. I am thankful for my family, friends and dance teachers.”
